johnny went down to the river
to buy his dog a bone
he thought he was part of an army

george washington cut down the cherry tree
and disappeared in the gloom
moses played the piano
in the middle of the road
jonah threw him a lousy dime
but the whale carried the load
they are building a mile high gallows
to hang the kaiser on christmas day
and planting a million flowers
for when the children come out to play
the king of england is coming to dinner
the emperor of china too
all we have to feed them is flapjacks
they will just have to make do
they are building a brand new atom bomb
in time for the fourth of july
