Some scholars (I won't mention any names but one of them has the same last name as the hero of a rather well-known if little-read Irish novel, whilst his first name is identical to that of a certain stringent British playwright whose work is often performed at earnest small theatres throughout the world) have said that this chapter is, oh, for instance, "wordy for Perfidy".

I strongly disagree.
