evening

by genghis gilgamesh

elvis presley was the king of rock and roll.

frank sinatra was the chairman of the board.

george washington cut down the cherry tree and never told a lie.

harriet beecher stowe was a little lady who started a big war.

none of them had done much of anything for anybody lately.

it was starting to get dark.

the bus to pocatello idaho was late. very late.

elvis took a silver dollar out of his pocket and began flipping it in the air, and catching it.

if you are going to keep flipping that silver dollar, young man, mrs stowe admonished him sternly, you might at least check to see if it comes up heads or tails.

it does not make a dime’s worth of difference, george washington said.

it is not a dime, it is a silver dollar, elvis protested.

the rain began to fall.
